Dr Paul Buchholz graduated BDSc from the University of WA and then went on to do a Masters in Orthodontics from the Melbourne University in 1979.  Patient profiles have been one of Dr. Buchholz’s main concerns through his career in orthodontics and he has been instrumental in a wide range of functional appliance treatment to try and enhance mandibular profiles in treating his patients.  He is one of the instigators of fixed functional appliances in the mid 90’s and continues this treatment today offering courses in the protocols involved in functional appliance treatment.  He has lectured extensively throughout Australia, South East Asia and North and South America on these protocols. 
Added to this Dr. Buchholz was the first practice in Australia to introduce 3d imaging in 2005 when he in installed his I-CAT 3d imaging together with 3dMD stereo photographic camera which overlays onto the 3d images.

Combination of treatment protocols and outcomes are now being investigated using 3d imaging both with the I-CAT Machine and the 3d photographic images to try to enhance the outcomes of such treatments on facial profiles.

Incorporated with this 3d imaging was the introduction of skeletal anchorage some 8 years ago which has been a main stay of Dr. Buchholz’s practice, which continues today.
